w00t!
Last night Steve showed me an UF online community thing. The Facebook. Actually, it's for all colleges. But it's designed to be communities for each college. Anyways, it's sort of like facethejury or hotornot but it is limited to college students. You have to have a valid .edu address, like, my email is @ufl.edu, so from that it knows to sort me into the UF category. You can browse other schools too, but with more limited abilities. There are mostly Ivey League schools on there. But there are a handful of "normal" schools like UF and UCLA.
I found out when I start my internship at Entergy Corp. It will be May 17th. I will be leaving Gainesville for Olrando on April 30th to go home, then probably leaving to go to Baton Rouge for my internship on the 15th or so. I still need to get an appartment up there, luckily somone else from out of state emailed me and offered to give me the info on all the appartments he looked at there over Spring Break. He's from Tennessee.
So I have done well on 4/5 final exams so far. I did bad on thermo. Reactor statics is tomorrow and I need to study.
PS: If you are in college and you are reading my post, sign up at The Facebook!

What Pre-1985 Video Game Character Are You?
I am a Defender-ship. I am fiercely protective of my friends and loved ones, and unforgiving of any who would hurt them. Speed and foresight are my strengths, at the cost of a little clumsiness. I'm most comfortable with a few friends, but sometimes particularly enjoy spending time in larger groups. What Video Game Character Are You?

Away messages appropiate for finals week
A friend of mine had this away message up. It's so appropiate.
Dugan of Doom: Monday.
Circuits of Chaos: Tuesday.
Heat Transfer of Hell: Wednesday.
Haghighat the horrible: Thursday.
Moving and going home: Friday, priceless.
Here is the one one that I have up if you have not seen it. It's less engineering oriented.
It has commenced... finals week is upon us in full force, seizing what sanity I have left during this menacing year of hell. The thought of a pure, utopian society has faded while UF has captured the last breath of any rational existence and conquered our self-worth. In coming days it is likely to see a plethora of unpleasant faces staring into an oblivion that can only be experienced by the UFian society. The underlying prolifigacy in which this institution so loves to put forth has taken a toll on our already feeble carcasses, in result of consuming repulsive dining hall rations. The possibility of survival is a distant notion...God help us all...

Good Times
Party with KGB people! yay. It was lots of fun. We had so much stuff at this party, champange (End of the year party), and much more stuff too. We watched Monty Python, Super Troopers, and Scooby Doo (the first episode ever). A party with people you know is so much more fun than just with a few you know, and the rest u don't.
Also, my first two exams went well. Three more to go: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. My first two were the easiest. I think Monday's. Radiation Interactions, will be moderate, Wed. and Thursday will be pure hell, so I am going to start studying them for today, but not yet, b/c in a bit we are going to clean the KGB office. Got most of my hw last week done on time too. I'm lucky I did some of the assignments done earlier so I did not have to spend all of thursday night night in the nuke lab. It was odd, showing up Friday at 11am and seeing people u were with yesterday in the same clothes.

Hell is upon me. Doom is my Destiny.
Ever get that feeling of complete failure, doom, or despair? That is me right now. Today has been rough. Finals are coming up but I cannot even begin studying for them even though classes ended today because I have an extreamly large amount of homework due before Friday. I also found out that I failed two exams, reactor statics and thermo. these classes are so damn hard. In reactor statics, the average was failing, an average was not given in thermo. But in each, I did worse than the majority. I feel like I have no control over those two classes. I cannot afford to get anything less than a C in them, but doom seems inevitable. all my other classes though are going quite well. My first exam is Saturday. my last exam is next Thursday night. So much else is going on right now too. I have two events tomorrow night, KGB fondue fest and a ANS party, so I have to skip one. Then another KGB even on Fri, right after my extra reactor systems class, oh, the class is supposed to be 3 hours / week fo rmeeting, my professor got our schedules and was able to raise it to 8 hours per week. Then a KGB BBQ on Sat and then a party Sat night, then dinner with my professor of reactor systems on Sunday night with the rest of the incoming ANS officers. Then come the rest of the exams. I must get an A on both reactor systems and thermo, the others I can do average on. The odds of getting an A on my two hardest subjects prob ranks up there with winning the lotto. Doom seems so inevitable right now. Oh, and tomorrow I have to write a program for reactor statics. I have not programmed in over a year. Oh, and once all these finals end, I get a few days to rest, then I am moving up to Baton Rouge for my summer internship. In a previous post (3 Q's) I was asked if I had any 3 wishes what would it be. I would definitly add ability to pause time to that list. UF is probbally going to make my die young with no hair. I need to chill.

Liberals' support for unions and opposition to companies moving outside the United States will hurt the US economy and actually decrease jobs
Many Americans are concerned with companies going overseas b/c the labor is cheaper there. However, I think it is wrong for the government to step in and stop companies from moving their operations. The market and customers should decide in their purchases or complaints to the companies. An excellent example of this is Dell. They have moved much of their customer service to India. However, they have received huge amounts of complaints since then about the quality of their service. People have a much harder time communicating with someone in India than someone who's primary language is English. As a result of this, Dell is starting to withdraw their Indian tech support due to decrease in sales. These jobs are coming back to America. This is a perfect example of how the people of America can influence companies. Government mandates are not the answer. However, liberals disagree.
I just saw a Democratic campaign ad (with no mention of Kerry whatsoever, all Bush bashing) that attacked Bush for not stopping companies from moving elsewhere. I find this ironic b/c liberals are to blame for companies moving away. Yes, liberals are to blame, not the companies. It is their workers unions. They create a workers alliance against the company demanding more and more benefits. This costs the companies money and is thus fed to the consumers, which makes me upset. Eventually, these companies get sick of these unions, as say, to hell with you, it will be much cheaper to move our operations to Mexico, India, China, etc. What happens if they stay? These companies have to either raise their prices, lay off workers, or go bankrupt. And the same liberals who support these worker unions are the ones who will destroy the United States economy.

Very Awkward moment today with a Russian
So today I went to the IRHA banquet and then to a KGB meeting afterward. At the meeting, we ordered a Dominos Pizza. I ordered it in, and Carly paid for it on her card. So when the dilivery guy said he'll be there in one minute, we went outside to meet him since our office is hard to find. He had a heavy accent on the phone but I couldn't place were...
So Calry and I were waiting in the dark for him, then we saw him pull up. he was old, 60-70 years, and had a white beard. When getting the pizza he asked us where the KGB office was, we told him were it was. Then he asked what KGB stood for, we told him it stood for the Keys Governing Body. He was like, "Good, because I had many bad experiances with the real KGB." We were like, "holy crap!" in our minds, it was then that we realized where he was from. Carly was quick to add "Yeah, we're much nicer than them." Someone who was "involved' with the real KGB gave us our pizza. Holy Crap!

UF is so f-ed up
So I went over to Gary and Marta's for help on getting my Monte Carlo input files to work. When I left it was like a freakin' maelstrom outside. I drove back to my dorm to drop off my laptop, then the 35 minute drive around my dorm for Parking. Keys: Full. Flavet Field: Full. Track: Full, Frat/Gram: Full. I ended up parking at Hume. While in their lot, someone pulled out. I was able to get it just as someone pulled in behind me. Then came the long run in the rain. After passing Museum Rd. I came to Flavet Field. The sprinkler system was on! Damnit! It was already pouring rain and lightnight made the night day. With the added water from the sprinker system, UF turned Flavet Field into a f-ing swamp! And I had to cross it to get to my dorm. So now I am soaking wet. My shoes are not going to dry out for a long time. UF can easily have a system to monitor rainfall and adjust their sprinker system water times accordingly. It;s not expensive, we haev the system at my house in Orlando. Or, even better: turn Flavet Field into a massive parking garage. Like, one that might rival Univsersal Studios' giant parking garage. Not only would that create more spaces, it would get all the lacross people off the field so their cars will not fill up our lots. Yes, I am feeling very cynical right now! My Monte Carlo exam is due tomorrow and I don't have the outputs done. I am so screwed.

Kerry wants to focus on the issues? He has got to be kidding...
heh heh heh. This chart is great, Kerry's record is such a mess. This quote from Bush demonstrates it best: "They're for tax cuts and against them. They're for NAFTA and against NAFTA. They're for the Patriot Act and against the Patriot Act. They're in favor of liberating Iraq, and opposed to it. And that's just one senator from Massachusetts."
| Issue | Kerry's Original Position | Kerry's Revised Position |
|---|
| Welfare Reform | In 1988, Sen. Kerry voted against a proposal to require at least one parent in any two-parent welfare family to work a mere 16 hours a week, declaring the work requirement "troublesome to me." | During his 1996 re-election campaign, when his Republican challenger, Gov. William Weld, was calling him soft on welfare, Kerry voted for the much stricter welfare reform law that Clinton signed into law. | | Mandatory Minimums | In 1993 and 1994, the senator from liberal Massachusetts voted against mandatory minimum sentences for gang activity, gun crimes, drug trafficking, and drug sales to minors, explaining in an impassioned speech that long sentences for some dealers who sell to minors would be "enormous injustices" and that some convicted drug offenders were "so barely culpable it is sad." He also said congressionally imposed mandatory minimums made no sense and would just create turf battles between federal and local prosecutors. | Today, presidential candidate Kerry strongly supports mandatory minimum sentences for federal crimes, including the sale of drugs to minors. | | Affirmative Action | In 1992, Kerry created a huge stir among liberals and civil rights groups with a major policy address arguing that affirmative action has "kept America thinking in racial terms" and helped promote a "culture of dependency." | Today, Kerry's campaign Web site vows to "Preserve Affirmative Action," noting that he "consistently opposed efforts in the Senate to undermine or eliminate affirmative action programs, and supports programs that seeks to enhance diversity." It doesn't mention any downside. | | Death Penalty | During one of his debates with Weld in 1996, Kerry ridiculed the idea of capital punishment for terrorists as a "terrorist protection policy," predicting that it would just discourage other nations from extraditing captured terrorists to the United States. | Kerry still opposes capital punishment, but he now makes an exception for terrorists. | | Education Reform | In a 1998 policy speech the Boston Globe described as "a dramatic break from Democratic dogma," Kerry challenged teachers unions by proposing to gut their tenure and seniority systems, giving principals far more power to hire and fire unqualified or unmotivated teachers. | Today, Kerry once again espouses pure Democratic dogma on education. His Web site pledges to "stop blaming and start supporting public school educators," vowing to give them "better training and better pay, with more career opportunities, more empowerment and more mentors." It doesn't mention seniority or tenure. | | Double Taxation | In December 2002, Kerry broke with Democratic dogma yet again in a Cleveland speech, calling for the abolition of the unfair "double taxation" of stock dividends in order to promote more investment and more accurate valuations of companies. | Five weeks later, after President Bush proposed a second round of tax cuts that included an end to this double taxation, Kerry changed his tune. He voted against the dividend tax cuts that were ultimately enacted by Congress and now hopes to roll them back as president, along with Bush's other tax cuts for upper-income Americans. | |
| Gas Taxation | In 1994, when the Concord Coalition gave Kerry a failing rating for his deficit reduction votes, he complained that he should have gotten credit for supporting a 50-cent increase in the gas tax. | Today he no longer supports any increase in the gas tax. | | Social Security | During the 1996 campaign, when I was a Globe reporter, Kerry told me the Social Security system should be overhauled. He said Congress should consider raising the retirement age and means-testing benefits and called it "wacky" that payroll taxes did not apply to income over $62,700. "I know it's all going to be unpopular," he said. "But this program has serious problems, and we have a generational responsibility to fix them." | Kerry no longer wants to mess with Social Security. "John Kerry will never balance the budget on the backs of America's seniors," his Web site promises. | | Trade | Kerry has been a consistent supporter of free trade deals, and as late as December, when reporters asked if there was any issue on which he was prepared to disagree with Demmocratic interest groups, Kerry replied: "Trade." Slate editor Jacob Weisberg came away impressed by the depth of Kerry's commitment to the issue: "Unlike Edwards, he supports international trade agreements without qualification." | But that was three months ago! In recent weeks, when Kerry has talked trade, he has talked nothing but qualification, calling for "fair trade" rather than "free trade," claiming to agree completely with the protectionist Edwards on trade issues, and vowing to "put teeth" into environmental and labor restrictions in agreements like NAFTA. |
This chart was made by Michael Grunwald via MSN Slate.

What if Bush had Prevented 9/11?
Bush has been getting a bunch of crap from Democrats recently about 9/11. I think this is purely political and the Democrats are making asses of themselves. But what if Bush had prevented 9/11? What would one do to prevent such a monstrocity? Well, this guy make a satire of what would happen to Bush if he prevented 9/11.

Updated Blog's Appearance a Bit
I should be doing my radiation interactions exam, but I had an inexplicable yearning to update the appearance of my blog. This usually happens during exam study time, or in this case, a take home exam. I don't want to do the exam but I want to remain productive. Anyways, here are the updates:
I have been wanting to tie my blog in with the title, so I added the radiation symbol to the top, and a sealed canister of a radioactive material at the bottom.

Spyware
I can't sleep; too much coffee earlier. Might as well blog. I have found the value of firewalls. My pc recently has been a victim to spyware. I like spyware that is easy to remove. You get it, Ad-Aware removes it, done. But the spywrare I got told Windows to launch it each startup, so when Ad-Aware removed it, Windows displayed a pop-up window asking for file "bridge.dll", a spyware file. The person who designed this had to of been very evil, to make Windows ask for spywware. Anyways, in the process of trying to fix my problem I found many other spyware applications Ad-Aware missed, such as Viewpoint Media Player, which comes with AIM. The newest AIM contains some spyware, joy. www.joeuser.com has an article on this. So I got rid of that and a few other things. Here is something odd. C:\Program Files\stop-the-pop-up demo. I cannot find this folder on my pc, even when enabling hidden folders and system folders. it is not there. But, according to mscofig, it is there. Oh, btw, msconfig solved that problem I had with the missing bridge.dll file. I just deselected it for startup there and I no longer got the pop-up. But still having an unchecked box in msconfig was to much for me. So after I decided I could not sleep tonight, I did a system restore. yay! it got rid of bridge.dll for good, but it brought back all the previous spyware! So here it is, 5am, and I just got rid of all the spyware on my system, once again. sigh.....
For anyone who is getting a "Windows is missing C:\WINDOWS\System32\bridge.dll" message immidiatly after Windows starts:
The easiest way to get rid of that message is to go to Start --> Run
type: msconfig
Go to the startup tab
Deselect bridge.dll
Restart Computer
You may get a message after restart telling you what you just did if you have never done this b4 to your pc. This is normal. Just select don't remind me again, and everything will be fine FOREVER!

Lunch w/ Family, Insane HW, Run, Chicken
Today was full. First, my family came up from Orlando to visit me for Easter. It was really nice of them. We ate at Cafe Gardens, a very cafe style restraunt. Good food. Talked for a while then they went home. Once home, I called Alex to ask if she wanted to do some hw together, but she had other plans for tonight.
Went to the nuke lab to work on Rad. Int 2 exam. Got past the 2nd question when Taylor finished and offerered to help me with Reactor Statics hw. I am so glad that I did not go out with Alex, Taylor was a huge help. It took him 7 pages to solve the hw. The problem involved derivation, differential equations, and linear algebra. It was pure hell. But now I understand most of it. I never would of figured it out on my own. He spent 2 hours helping me understand the boundary conditions and how to use them to find the solution to the problem. Around 11 he left and I started to redo my work. Around 2am my brain died out and I could not work anymore. I was able to get a huge mofo of an equation of pure constants, which is good. It was like, 25 inches long on college ruled paper.
So once my brain died, I went back to my place to drop off my stuff then I went over to the track for a run. It was pitch black. For some reason running after doing hard mental work makes running easier. i ran until the sprinkler system came on. I could of ran more, but the water smelled like rotten eggs. So I went to my place again which brings me to now. I am wide awake from drinking coffee while doing all my hw and do not want to go to bed yet.
Oh, Dave showed me a radom funny / off site: Subservient Chicken. Type in stuff and it will do it! How odd, how awesome!

New Reviews Page Up
I have redesigned my Reviews Page. The new image is much better than the old one: less haze, better photoshop techniques used, etc. I am very happy with it other than the fact that it take a while to load on a 56k. I added a new section too, Video Game Reviews. That makes a total of 4 categories, Anime, Movie, and Book Reviews are the other ones. It took my long enough just to find all the images for my Reviews page adn then put everything together that I did not have any time to create a Video Game Reviews Page, but Movie Reviews is still up. I am definitly going to design the Video Game Reviews Page with much less images than movie reviews. Phil suggested I do video game reviews shortly after the start of OmniPrime, but I did not have the time then, not did I want to do it. Now however, I want to do it. How do I have the time? HW is due at 5 that I have not finished. But due dates in Reactor Statics are not as ridgid as other classes. You can still see my old Reviews Page from a link at the bottom of my Current Reviews page. Comment on which one you like better!

Some women are awesome
Thoughts / Remarks by an army wife
This woman said in this link said what I always think in my mind when Americans insult the American military and President Bush. Their "feelings" can turn one's stomach. Hell, I would of bought her dinner too for what she did. Definitly worth reading to the end.
Pregnant Mexican gives herself a c-section in order to give birth
This woman is awesome. She gave herself a c-section while in labor so she could have her baby. She took 3 shots of hard liquor to numb her body, then with a knife, cut herself open. Then after she had her baby, she went to the hospital and asked them to sow her up. This woman is hard core. Just imagine her cutting herself open, while in labor, taking shots of liquor. If I ever get demoralized with Reactor Statics hw, I'll think of her. lol. I will try to find the link and post it here. Someone read the article out loud earlier today in the nuke lab.
UPDATE: Found the article USA Today

Maybe if Clinton had kept his promise, an estimated 3,000 people in New York and Washington, D.C. that are now dead would be alive today. And, now that Bush is taking action to bring these people to justice, we have liberals charging him with being a war monger...

This question was raised on a Philly radio call-in show. Without casting stones, it is a legitimate question. There are two men both extremely wealthy. One develops relatively cheap software and gives billions of dollars to charity. The other sponsors terrorism and wants to put an end to western civilization. That being the case, why was it that the Clinton administration spent more money chasing down Bill Gates over the past eight years than Osama bin Laden?
found this here. I made a few modifications to it to make it better and have less shouting.

Entergy, what to do over the summer, exams, KGB VP
Once again, it's been a while since I posted.
It's decision time for me. I do not know what's best for the summer. Spend it in Orlando taking FORTRAN at UCF, or going to n internship with Entergy Corp. in St. Francisville, LA. The guy who will be my supervisor at Entergy called, telling me to call him tomorrow, well, I guess, later this morning. Apparently, I may be getting to choose whether I want to do my internship / co-op with them either this summer, fall, or next spring.
Also, lots of exams coming up. I think I am doomed. Lots of hw due soon too. I really just wish I could go into a deep sleep for a week.
Oh, and I got "elected" to be a representative for the American Nuclear Society in the Benton Engineering Council at UF. yay. I may be running for VP in the KGB, I also have to dedide that by tomorrow too. My other choice is minister of fiance, but I would rather not do that since I was that position this year. Word is, I will have to fight someone to the death for the VP position, the loser would get minister of finance, but, um, wait, that doesn't work out. Ok, I shall fight someone to near death, but that person will get better. 'Tis only a fleshwound! Yeah, I know they are from different part of the movie. Your mother was a hampster, and your father smelt of elderbery!
