And thus ends Two Weeks of Finals along with the Fall of Mordor marking the end of the 3rd age and the year 2003 in the year of our Lord
And so ends the 2003 Section of my blog. If you're reading this, November posts on my blog are much more interesting than December: go read those; I think my December posts are boring. However, the funniest post I think I have is the October 24th post on why short people should not get into positions of power (satire, yes) Now, for info on stuff:
My Reactor Systems exam was my last exam and was the hardest. On the RCS schematic I knew something was in a spot between the steam generator and the bottom of the reactor core, but I did not know what it is, but something had to go there. My result: divine intervention. Yes, water flows from the steam generator and then undergoes divine intervention before re-entering the reactor core. But I did better on the exam than I thought after I took it after discussing it. I had no idea how to do the DNBR problem, so I just got my q" answer, divided it by a value on the nucleic boiling graph, and multiplied it by the factor he gave us, I had no idea what I was doing, I just did that so I had an answer so it wasn't left blank. However, I found out after the exam what I did was correct. Holy Crap! Of all the times for your bs to be exactly the solution to the problem, it was on my hardest final! Thank You God!
And I just got back from Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King about 30 minutes ago. Including previews, it lasted from 9:30pm-1am and they still cut a lot from the book out. I will not say what to not ruin it for anyone. But that movie was awesome! It had a much better pace than The Two Towers. But the thing that got me was how well they did the scenes that they did. (spoilers coming up if you have not read the books) The design of Minas Tirith was almost exactly as I imagined it, short of the exact top, but the top of the city was great. Whoever designed that place needs a raise. What was nothing like I imagined it was the cursed men that Aragorn allied with to save Minas Tirith. My imagination of their land was very bleak, faded and dreary, like a dying Norwegian town,, nothing like the haunted city they had. But anyway, the acting was great. Frodo and Sam did an excellent job, the ending of the Ring of Power and Frodo and Sam imagining their doom on the side of Mt. Doom was very much like Tolkein had wrote it, which was just as I imagined it. I liked the pause in that scene too. It scared me for a moment, thinking, he ended it there? No can't be. He wouldn't do that. Then it continued with Gandolf coming in on the eagles. The special effects were awesome. Aside from the Oliaphants, Minas Tirith, Minas Morgul, the Undead, Mt. Doom, and Barak-Dur, I could not tell where the real action ended and the special effects began. It was brilliant. I wish that they added the Houses of Healing scenes in Minas Tirith and what Tolkein wrote when they came back to the shire in the book. Also, Gandolf showed King Aragorn the tree in the mountains that should be placed in Minas Tirith, it would of been nic eto have that scene, along with the reconstruction of the city such as dwarves coming to Gondor to make a mithril gate. It would of made the movie surpass 4 hours, but I think it is worth it. Hmmm.... my back hurts..... the movie was very long.
Well, that's the last post of the year. I am leaving for Orlando tomorrow. In memory of the hobbits, I leave at 4:20 :P I doubt I shall blog again until next year. What awaits me in this old town full of tourists, high school friends, and trees? You shall know, in the 2004 Edition of OmniPrime - Blog!

grrrr...........
Why is it that on the night before your most important final you cannot sleep? I am tired right now! I should be sleeping; but I can't. True, yesterday I got to bed at 4am and woke up around 1pm, but the exam tomorrow is at noon and I need to get up around 7 to get down to the nuke building to study more b4 the exam. This is so annoying. I am tired. I want to sleep. I need to sleep. I am awake and blogging while talking to Debbie on AIM.

The End is Near!
The end of final exams is in sight. All I have left is reactor systems, which is by far the most difficult of all my finals. Circuits went very well for me, which is due almost entirely to the fact of the TA's review session. Yeah, lecture classes were useless. Linear Algebra was terrible, I got one of the lowest grades in the class, but my higher grades in the beginning and middle of the semester average it out. And radiation interaction was okay. It was really hard, but I was able to come up with answers. The final lasted 4 hours (5-9pm), near 9 I wasn't really concerned if what I got was right or not, but more like "Get me out of here!". I had a nightmare that night that I failed, which is really odd considering I rarely ever dream about school. I can't wait until all of this is over and relax. I'm definitly going to see LOTR:TRotK soon. It comes out tonight at 11:59, but I'm going to wait until Thursday so I can see it with Alex and/or Anthony. Alex lent me her LOTR:TTT dvd's, the extended edition was great, best 4 hour movie I have seen.
Over Christmas break I may redesign this blog to make it look more seperate from the About Me pages. I'm not sure tho, right now I just feel like taking a nap.....

Stuff...
Damnit! It's so freakin' cold outside right now! I woke up this morning and dressed warmly b/c of the cold rain, then around noon it was really hot. My Adv. Eng. math class was cancelled so the I went with the people I have most of my classes with over to University Ave. to get lunch, since we rarely are on that side of campus. Well since I had time, I dropped by my appartment afterward to get into cooler clothes since I was sweating. Well, I went to the circuits exam review and I just got back after studying at the Reitz for a while. It was feezing out there! I still feel cold right now, after being indoors for about 20 minutes. Why, the day before a final does the weather switch around so much? When I have warm cloths on it's hot, when I have shorts on it's freezing. It's 40F out there, why was it like upper 80's earlier? Damnit! Get some consistancy nature! I am going to pollute more becasue of this! Argh!
Anyways, I have that circuits final tomorrow, 9:30am. I'm still up b/c I'm waiting for Dante to come over so he can copy my notes, and Dave is IM'ing me about the #1 Gators losing to Maryland in basketball. Damn it! This is just like last year. We do great in the beginning, get really high in the ranks (can't go much higher than #1 :P) and then lose it all near the end. Anyways, I still think our basketball program is great, by far the best in the state, and Billy Donovan is doing a great job. hmm... where is Dante? He was at the basketball game earlier (which is really hard to do, tickets are very hard to get, they involve camping out) *Been up since 7, starting to fall asleep......*

Finals
I finished up the remaining bit of homework for the semester today. Wait.... the last day is tomorrow. Damn, it came so fast. I thought I actually would have some free time coming up for some fun... No fun for Joe anytime soon. Especially after talking to Dante just now. He told me that our circuits final is this Thursday. Thursday and Friday are reading days for UF. They serve as a buffer between the end of classes and finals. I think circuits will be my hardest exam as well, and I have less than one day to study for that, that's just a couple of hours! I am so pissed at my professor now. He told us last Wednesday that it would be Saturday. And I just realized that I am going on a rant. And then last Friday he told everyone the exam was this Thursday; that's technically tomorrow! It isn't allowed by UF to have exams on the days; this comes directly from the provost. In other news, Undead Week for KGB is going well, had Italian food and watched Terminator 3. It didn't seem as bad as everyone made it out to be, it wasn't great, but it wasn't that bad. Had a massage yesterday, it was really good.

The Last Samurai
I just got back from the movies. I saw The Last Samurai with Alex and her friend Jackie. We got there, saw everything for The Last Samurai was sold out until 11:20, then got those tickets and ate / hung out at Moe's for a while. The Last Samurai has got to of been one of the best movies I have seen this year. This is also without a doubt the best Tom Cruise movie I have ever seen, better than Mission Impossible, heck, it's even better than Top Gun. The action scenes were excellent. They were not like Kill Bill; some of he action scenes had more of an elegant nature to them. The kendo drills had a certain grace to them. Other action scenes had more of a Braveheart meets Gettysburg type of feel. Thought the movie, my mind and heart were split between what would happen. I really wanted the samurai to defeat the Japanese militia against all odds. However, my mind knew that would never happen and that it would be a slaughter (And no, that was not a spoiler) and that the samurai did not have a change against rapid fire weapons. The Japanese actors were excellent in both acting ability and their handling of swords. Tom Cruise was good, but slightly under Ken Watanabe (Katsumoto). However, Cruise and Watanabe underplay their roles, letting their characters' deeds speak for them and permitting intimacies not usually associated with epic moviemaking. Cruise's transformation into a samurai is convincing as the actor makes us understand that this the only way he can reclaim his soul (now that was a spoiler). This is the type of movie I would buy on DVD.

More Online Quizzes!
Massachusetts is your state. It's crowded in some places but quiet in others. So you can actually live in peace and still be close to a big city. What State Is Perfect For You? brought to you by Quizilla
you are paleturquoise #AFEEEE | Your dominant hues are green and blue. You're smart and you know it, and want to use your power to help people and relate to others. Even though you tend to battle with yourself, you solve other people's conflicts well.
Your saturation level is low - You stay out of stressful situations and advise others to do the same. You may not be the go-to person when something really needs done, but you know never to blow things out of proportion.
Your outlook on life is bright. You see good things in situations where others may not be able to, and it frustrates you to see them get down on everything.
| | the spacefem.com html color quiz |
I do not agree with the results to this color quiz. If college has taught me anything, it is that I know very little and that there are many people smarter than me. Also, I do not try to solve other people's conflicts. Of course I like to help people, but I have learned that most people do not want solutions. They are intelligent and can figure it out on their own; I will not give advice unless asked. What people want is someone to talk to about something, not a person to give advice to them.
Which Sesame Street Muppet's Dark Secret Are You?
 The Count's Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
It started with a simple affection for counting and the terror it induced in others, didn't it? But now it's turned into a full-blown life-consuming chaotic nightmare of order, repetition, zealousness, and perfectionism. You used to be so grand, but now you find yourself obsessively worrying over the littlest things--like, maybe if you don't check the light switch at least once every two minutes, the electricity will go out (and damnit, you're a vampire--that shouldn't be a problem!)

Exams
How I wish I could of gone outside of the nuclear engineering building basement today and had some fun, but no, that's not going to happen anytime soon. I spent the entire day studying linear algebra. I have an advanced engineering math exam tomorrow and had reactor systems yesterday. Reactor systems was much easier than I expected, but I still think I did not do too well. I completely forgot the reactor coolant flow diagram. Starting Tuesday, I get four days of freedom! yay! Then circuits final Saturday morning at 9:30l. ugh.

Start of Last Few Weeks of Fall 03 term
Starting back up after break is so difficult. I wish they made it so the workload gradually increases, rather than two homework assignments due today, and three tests this week: Reactor Systems exam, Circuits quiz, both on Wednesday and Linear Algebra exam. sigh... All that along with RHW purchase orders to do, rebates to fill out and a reactor systems project due next monday.
